I posted a picture of mr Tedi online and got a great response from people all over the world, so I started creating these creatures and taking custom orders too, where people can send in their own shirt. This little side business as mrs Jermyn really took off, and took over my career a bit for a while. The bears are now sold at the Walker Art Center, Brooklyn Museum and many many other stores nationwide and in a few stores in Europe too. The online shop has gotten sales from all over the world including Japan, Kentucky and Denmark.
It’s been fun doing the graphic design and marketing for this project since the subject matter is so playful, and it’s been so amazing and touching to hear the stories of all these shirts from the people that send them to me. Many of them were worn by beloved people who have passed away, whilst others carry the memories of a first date or a wedding day – each bear has it’s own story to tell.
